Kazimierz Orłoś

Kazimierz Orłoś (b. 1935) – author,
cinema and TV screenplay writer,
playwright, author of radio plays, feature
writer. An outstanding Polish realist prose
writer, author of the novel The Marvellous
Den published first in the Literary
Institute in Paris (for which the writer
was banned from publishing in Poland
and harassed in other ways). He was an
opposition activist during the Polish
People’s Republic and a co‑creator of
independent culture during that period.
During the years 1988–1994 he cooperated
with Radio Free Europe. The winner of
multiple awards, including the Kościelski
Foundation Award (1970) and the Literary
Award of the Capital City of Warsaw
(2019).
