Description
Piotr is twelve. He’s a pleasant, intelligent
boy, has a wonderful home and loving
parents, but his life is being poisoned
by his schoolmates. Piotr has defective
vision and has to wear thick-lensed
glasses. Eryk, an anxious boy with various
complexes, uses Piotr’s condition to bully
and dominate him. The situation changes
diametrically, however, when they end
up in a mysterious house which for some
strange reason no one apart from them
can see. The house turns out to be a portal
to another world where Piotr can see

perfectly but Eryk has problems with his
vision. What’s more, there is a war in this
strange universe which the boys become
mixed up in. Piotr has the chance to gain
his revenge for the years of torment, but
will he take it? Or perhaps he’ll go down
another path and show his tormentor
what real strength is.
“Briefly: it’s action-packed. But there are
hidden meanings under the frantic pace
of the action in The House at Number
Five. A moving, powerful message that
can change the world. To be begin with,
the one we know best, built of everyday
gestures, smiles, grimaces, or a hand
held out to a person who might need our
help (…). A beautiful lesson in empathy
at the breakneck speed of a thrilling
adventure!” Agnieszka Sowińska, Books.
A Magazine about Reading
“The House at Number Five is a book that
talks to the hearts and minds of young
people, drawing attention to extremely
vital matters. It’s one of those stories with
the power to make everyday life happier
and make reality fairer. Then the world is
sure to become a better place!”
